Sellersville, PA 5/7/05
It’s been over a week and I’ve seen 2 shows since Sellersville so I don’t remember most of the shows. There’s still a lot I do, but there was SO many funny things that even remembering like 30% of what happened is a lot to write about. So get ready for another long review. Plus its 2 shows so it makes sense to write a lot. But that also means I don’t remember what happened at what show for most of the things, so it’s all jumbled together.

Saturday morning I spent at brunch with my parents, sister, grandparents, and Barbara celebrating mother’s day. No, we weren’t celebrating a day early cuz I would be gone Sunday, we always celebrate mother’s day on Saturday because no one wants to drive on Sunday and cuz restaurants are very crowded on Sunday. I know, my family’s bizarre. The plan was to eat near the train station so when we were done I could just walk across the street and get on the train to go to Amy’s. We ended up finishing an hour before I intended to take the train and I couldn’t get a hold to Amy to find out if I could get to her early, so we all went back to my house and then my dad drove me back to the train station when I was scheduled to leave. I decided to change at Woodside instead of going all the way to Penn, but that meant changing in Jamaica. I had my rolling suitcase and only 5 minute to switch trains so I asked the conductor if he knew what track the train to Woodside would be on so I didn’t waste time waiting for it to be announced and risk not making the train (for those who haven’t been to Jamaica station, to change tracks you have to go up a huge flight of stairs to cross over to another track and with my suitcase I can’t move that quickly up and down stairs) Anyway, I asked the conductor and he said it’s after this train. I’m like I know it leaves after this train, but what track. He again said after this one. So I said oh, you mean on the same track. He said yes, once this one moves. I had to bite my lip to prevent myself from saying no shit Sherlock. Cuz two train can occupy the same space at the same time. So glad I took college physics. Anyway, that was the dumb comment of my trip.

The rest of the trip was uneventful and I got to Amy, she gave me the van keys and I dumped my stuff in her car. She joined me soon after and we were on our way. We stopped at Laura’s Vince rest stop and I called to tell her so while Amy got a drink and used the ATM. I got a hot dog. Gotta have as much Nathan’s as I can while I’m up here. Then we waited forever in line for gas and eventually were on our way again. We got semi lost but randomly found the right road. “What road is this?” “Lawn” “WTF how’d that happen?” I changed and some woman kept asking me questions about the van Amy had rented. The lady was so sweet and polite about it though. I got my tickets and joined Amy, Jenn, Madelin, Kelly, and friend and waited to go in. About 15 minutes before the show I called Jade to see how far they were and she had no clue where they were but a minute later I looked to my left and there she is in the car. I went and met her, Laura, and the other girls. They got their tickets and we went in. Very small theatre. I’m not claustrophobic but that venue made me almost feel like I was. So narrow. But it was pretty. I had Jade to my left and all the other girls to the left of her. To my right was some older gentleman who definitely did not go to the show voluntarily. He spent the whole show with his arms crossed on his chest. BUT! During the Rock the Boat he sat there, arms still crossed, but slowly moved his head slightly from side to side. It was hard not to laugh at that.

Most of the funny stuff during the two shows revolved around this female statue sitting to the left (stage right) of the stage. Kevin was OBSESED with this thing. He would bring it up every chance he got. I think it was during Rock the Boat, at the beginning when Scott starts grunting and then puts the mic out to the audience, Kevin put his mic up to the girl. He kept going over to it and pretending like he was gonna dance with it. During Have A Little Faith, after Kevin's little solo, Scott changed the lyrics to "Give him (Kevin) some faith because he has a girlfriend with a lamp for a hat" cuz the statue had some light over it. During the second show she was talked about almost right away and Scott said, "We have a good view of her from here" and the audience kinda made noises of surprise/disapproval to which Kevin goes, "Come on! It's the late show!" I think he said something about loosening up and he started dancing. I don't remember if it was even Sellersville when he did the dance, it may have been Canton, but whenever he did it, it was actually good. I know nothing about dancing, so I don't know what it was, but you could tell it was something a college student would do at a club and he looked really good doing it. Apparently he does have a sense of rhythm lol. Later on Kevin was doing the intro to Boardwalk and talked about the girls in bikinis and some audience members mumbled something and he said, "I'm married but hey, I can still look, I just can't touch." I can't believe he said that on stage. I said to Laura and Jade, "He can't say that!" which I also said at numerous other points during the show. At some point afterwards Kevin said, "I feel comfortable with y'all, can ya tell?" Apparently Kevin. So comfortable that during Boardwalk he laid down on the stage, on his side, with one arm propping up his head and acted all sexy. Again I said, He can't do that! Also during Boardwalk (this was all the second show) there was some bug flying around him while he was singing and he started swatting it and pretended it was another bird on the beach and cracked himself up. Kevin broke numerous times during both shows. The best was during Ain’t too Proud during the first show. He had made up this Broadway show called Hello River earlier in the show, and the girl John chose was a theatre major so he asked her if she ever did the show. He then made the mini song, not about her, but one of the songs from Hello River. He had to try starting the song 4 times cuz he kept laughing so hard. He'd crack up, which would get us girls laughing, he'd stop laughing, but we still would be laughing and that would start him all over again. I think he got 2 lines out before giving up. But it was SO cute.

During off mic, they ALL broke and the song was gone. Somewhere near the beginning when John was singing, someone hit a really bad note (we think it was Kevin) I didn't hear it, all I saw was Jeff break. Now Jeff doesn't laugh often on stage, let alone during the middle of a song, ESPECIALLY off mic. But he LOST it. I was all WTF, this is so not like Jeff. He couldnt stop and that made Scott and Kevin go too. John turned around and looked at them like what the hell is going on? Of course all us girls started laughing and again, they'd compose themselves but Laura or I would lose it again and set them off. Then during Wonderful World I guess Scott figured they had already lost the prettiness of the song so what the hell and he came down off the stage, first singing out to the audience, but at Kevin part he turned to face the Pella and Kevin sang his part to Scott. Scott got down on one knee and the both reached out one hand toward the other all romantic like. It was SO funny.

Hello River was first introduced when Scott was talking about Kevin and how he used to be on Broadway. Kevin made it up and told a story about how recently he was talking to some of his Broadway buddies and they were saying how when they were like 80 years old they would get together and reminisce about the "good old days" and he started talking like he was 80 saying things like, "I remember when we were in Hello River." Scott listed stuff Kevin was in and Kevin was like yea, I was in a show at this theatre way back, we did hello river. Scott: "Really????" all excited. Kevin: "No!" and started laughing at Scott. The made up show continued to be mentioned throughout both shows. During the second show the PW did community theatre at the venue and Kevin asked her if she had done Hello River. Of course she hadn’t but she had done a lot of Aesop's Fable stories. She said Aesop by pronouncing the A. I had always said Esop, with the silent A, and apparently that’s how Scott had always heard it too, cuz he was all Aesop? Esop? and was all confused.

Oh and before Kevin attempted his made up Hello River song for the 1st Beg girl, he said the song really had like 20 verses but Scott insisted they cut it down cuz it was too long, to which Scott replied, "Yea, that's too much stage time for you." I died. I love when they're them on stage. So Kevin starts making fun of Scott and talking like Scott. Except that it sounded NOTHING like Scott. I turned to Jade and said "Cuz Scott sounds like that" at which the same time, Scott said into his mic basically the same thing. It was really funny.

More funny stuff involving Boardwalk. At the first show Kevin asked who wanted to admit they wore speedos like they did. Someone admitted and then Kevin goes, "Sorry, we don't really wear speedos, jus kidding!" and Scott sang "Thong tha-thong-thong-thong".

Scott was talking about John before they did Surrounded and AGAIN said, John comes from a long line of Hoofer. Hookers..." And they all died like this was the first time Scott had done that. He did it in Charlotte too, but it was still very funny.

It was so good to see two shows again. My last double show was STL. I missed the insanity that happens at the second show. And this was even better cuz they actually did almost a completely new show. Usually its the same setlist with the exception of a few songs, but I think they only did about 5 songs at both shows. It was so cool to get 2 new songs. I absolutely love the first one they did, the "I'm here for you for now, for life, a soldier by your side." The second one was good too, but I'll have to hear it again before I commit to an opinion. I'm very happy that it's basically another solo for George. I just wish I coulda understood the words. Oh, and I really like Surrounded now. I think the first time it was just so different I sat there going WTF is this. Now I've heard it two more times and I'm starting to understand the words, more than just choo-choo lol. I just loving hearing them do new stuff again. I guess I've gotten so used to the same old stuff that when I hear new stuff and I don't know what note or word is coming next I remember why I love them so much. I'd become lazy going to show hearing the same thing and not always paying attention. And I got to hear songs I hadn't heard in a while at the second show. Love Potion was nice again, even though Kevin didn't do the Woah-oh-ohs right. I coulda done without Tempted though, and Jade and I crossed out arms and acted all pissed in protest. I doubt they could see us though, which is why I did it. And the ending was great cuz they did the walk in a circle but they didn't go off stage cuz there was no intermission. Instead they made a circle around Jeff and he pretended to be a ballerina and twirled with his arm over his head. He looked so proud of himself and was laughing. So cute. Of course I was happy for Change in My Life again. People started yelling requests and Jade, Amy, and I think someone else kept yelling for Smile in my Heart, which made me happy, even though they didn't do it. At least they knew we still wanna hear it. They did Ellie my Love instead and Laura yelled "But Jeff has to be in it" as they started much louder than she meant to and I died. It was so funny.

During the first show Scott asked if anyone knew how Sellersville got its name. no one did, but Scott said he assumed it was cuz they had a lot of basements in the town. OY. He looked so proud of himself for thinking of it. Kevin went on some rant about how pretty the houses in the area are and how some of them are from the 1860s and they're so old and beautiful. He and Scott started talking about how Florida used to be used to hold prisoners so they don't have anything old and pretty. Kevin explained it was interesting to him cuz in Florida the houses are no older than like the 1960s. He asked Scott when the first houses were built and Scott said, "Whenever air conditioning was invented." HAHA. At least I thought it was funny. I think it was then that I called Kevin a redneck. I feel like after 4 years I Florida I have the right to call him that LOL. I didn't say it loudly of course, but its fun anyway.

At the beginning of the first show, for some reason I don't remember Scott started reenacting a scene from Men In Black. He said he had been watching it in the motel the day before and he reenacted the "Your proposal is acceptable" scene. I've never seen the movie, but hopefully that means something to those of you who have seen it. It was still funny to me though cuz he didn't reenact it for the audience...he did it for Kevin. Or at least he did the whole thing facing Kevin. When he was the alien he had the mic to his mouth saying the lines, but when he was Will Smith, he would say his lines with the mic away from his mouth. Kevin thought it was hilarious.

I guess that’s it. No M&G which was sad but I was more upset about it for Jade than for me. I knew I’d see them the next day and she wouldn’t, so that sucked. We did see Jeff and George walking to their car as we pulled out of the parking lot. Jade: “I’m mad at you guys” (or something like that) Jeff: Why? Stupid Jeff. Or should I say typical male. Anyway, dinner didn’t really go the way we expected and Jade and I ended up eating Wendy’s by ourselves. We got back to the hotel before the others which was good since Jade had the only room key. She passed out on the floor and I waited to let the others in. Plus all my clothes we in the back of Laura’s car so I couldn’t go to bed anyway. After some ridiculousness we finally fell asleep. I got about 3 hours. Apparently I must wake up at 6am whenever I see the Pella. Eventually the others woke up too and I called my mom to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day and apologized for not being able to be with her. We had lunch at Perkins (I love Perkins!) and then went to Wal-Mart to print out my two Pella pics to be signed and so Gina could get a shirt to wear to the show cuz she decided to do Canton after all. Then we said bye to Jade and it was sad and we were on our way to Connecticut.
